YWCA Dayton names new Board members

YWCA Dayton is proud to announce that it has appointed its newest members to its Board of Directors:

Ryan IvoryRyan Ivory is a professional social worker who's career has focused on mental health, substance abuse, social justice issues, children and families, health disparities in the African American community, and racism as a public health crisis. She is an adjunct instructor at Ohio University and a licensed master social worker at Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield.  Rachel Jessup has a long history in community service and co-founded HavenHope Ministries in East Dayton as a home for women recovering from addiction and abuse, with a focus in sex trafficking. Her experience working with women in recovery also includes serving as CEO of a retail shop that hired women in active recovery from addiction and abuse.  Adele Johnson-Kebe has worked in the HR field for over 30 years, bringing a deep breadth and depth of knowledge about Human Resources leadership, best practices, and workforce trends. She is currently working as VP and chief human resource officer at Dayton Children's Hospital.  Kristina Scott is United Way of Greater Cincinnati's new director of public policy and advocacy. She recently served as CEO of Learn to Earn Dayton, which supports Montgomery County children from birth until they graduate from college or earn a high-quality credential.  Her experience also includes leading Alabama Possible, a nonprofit group that fights systemic poverty through education efforts.   Rachel Sturm is a tenured associate professor of management and international business at Wright State University's Raj Sion College of Business. She has received the MBA Program Teaching Excellence Award from the Raj Soin College of Business and the Journal of Management Scholarly Impact Award.  Alyssa Young is a compliance and risk operations specialist at First Financial Bank. Along with banking expertise, she brings experience in nonprofit fundraising and event planning, as well as providing mentorship to Dayton teens. She received the Service Leadership Award from Miami University and is a member of the Amicus Curiae Law Society  Yvonne Isaacs, a past two-term Board member and past Board chair, was named an Emeritus Board Member. She also previously served as chair of the Dayton Board of Education. She is a retired Supervisor of Customer Leaders/Volunteers at Verso Corporation.  If you are interested in joining the Board on a mission to eliminate racism and empower women, anyone can submit an interest application.Our Board:

  • is as old as we are -- 152 years.
  • is comprised of 41% women of color, 59% white women
  • has an average age is 44. A unique component of YW's bylaws is that all local associations must have at least one Board member who is under 30 years old.
  • has been served for 53 years by our longest Board member, Betsy Whitney, who at 91 has been leading with us since 1969.
