Michelle Kaye is the Client & Community Relations Director at PNC Bank where she has pushed the company to be a role model for local businesses on how to drive change in diversity, equity and inclusion. She successfully built support to have PNC be the first corporate sponsor for the Dayton Pride celebration.One of her nominators noted that while Michelle’s job is to foster goodwill for PNC in the community, she wanted her job to be more than just organizing a volunteer day or food drive.“She wanted to demonstrate to marginalized members of the community in Dayton that there were companies that supported employees irrespective of their skin color, gender or sexuality; and she wanted to tackle these real issues and find solutions together.”Michelle was described by multiple nominators as a quiet and thoughtful leader who never tries to impress or get attention.“She quietly reveals her kind heart, her care for our community, and her willingness to go above and beyond to magnify everyone’s potential. It is her personal character, skills and qualities that ultimately do impress those working with her, and it is because of who she is, and how she accomplishes her work that people are influenced through her thoughtful leadership. This powerful combination brings about positive change for all the organizations she is involved with,” one nominator wrote.Michelle serves on the board of the YMCA of Greater Dayton, on the Five Rivers Metroparks Foundation Board, as a trustee for Learn to Earn Dayton and she recently joined the YWCA Dayton board. She is a former board member with House of Bread, the Foodbank and the Human Relations Council for the City of Dayton.She served as a member of the Dayton Art Institute’s Associate Board, where she chaired Art Ball in 2019. In 2017, Michelle co-chaired the grand opening of the downtown Dayton Metro Library, where according to one nominator she carried tables, chairs and other equipment up three flights of stairs when the elevators were out in the days leading up to the event.“She is passionate about early childhood education and working for equity for all in our community, demonstrated by her service to Learn to Earn Dayton, the YMCA, and the Human Relations Council,” one of her nominators said.Michelle was named the 2010 Woman of the Year for the Dayton Chapter of the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, having spent her time raising money and awareness in honor of a local child diagnosed with leukemia. She was also honored to be selected as one of the Women in Business Networking (WiBN) Woman to Watch. She was a member of the Dayton Business Journal’s Dayton 40 Under 40 in 2002 and is a member of Leadership Dayton, Class of 2006.
