2021 Community Appeal: A Gift of Intentionality

Every year, our team chooses one word to ground us in our work for the next 365 days; work that is necessary, and a privilege to carry; but, work that cannot tire and work that never ceases. This year, the word that rose to the top of our consciousness was: Intentional. But, how do we act with intention in a world that is in constant flux? Legislation that impacts funding streams is tenuous; the tide of COVID-19 continues to rise and recede; the fight for racial and gender justice makes strides, and at the same time, is forced backward.

For 151 years, YWCA Dayton has led with intention – ensuring our doors always stay open, ensuring women will always be housed, ensuring our clients always find safety, and that our strategies are rooted in justice, readied for every eventuality.

At YWCA Dayton:• We are intentional about supporting and advocating for women, girls, and families.• We are intentional about centering the lived experiences of women and girls of color.• We are intentional about leaning in to our legacy while embracing our next.• We are intentional in our demands for racial, gender, class and environmental change. No matter how circumstances change, this remains true: YWCA Dayton does not belong to any one of us, but to all of us. Please join in our resounding refrain to women and families, that even if they are having to rediscover – or reframe – their intention, they are surrounded by a community that is grounded in peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people.  You can give online now at www.ywcadayton.org/donate. From all of us at YW, thank you for your financial support and generosity, especially during these ever-changing days. May your holiday season be one of intention, good health, and, always, abundant blessings. To make a gift now, click HERE.
