YWCA partners with Kroger to raise awareness of domestic violence

YWCA Greater Cincinnati, in collaboration with YWCA Hamilton & YWCA Dayton, is partnering with Kroger on an inaugural campaign in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and YWCA USA’s Week Without Violence. YWCA USA is the largest network of domestic violence shelters and services in the nation.YWCA-branded signage will be available in 25 clinics in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area and 21 clinics in Hamilton and Dayton for a total of 46 clinics to take direct action against domestic violence. The signage will provide outreach resources for those experiencing domestic violence as well as create community conversations on how to break the cycle of domestic violence.Sadly, domestic violence greatly impacts many corners of our communities. To be specific; 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men experience severe physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime, and 7% of those women and 4% of those men experience this horror before they reach the legal age of 18.The public can scan QR codes or contact the YWCA via email, direct message or phone to access services provided by YWCA staff who are trained in domestic violence advocacy. Additionally, Little Clinic medical professionals currently offer services during wellness checks with patients.“Kroger is proud to partner with regional YWCA organizations throughout the Cincinnati/Dayton Division to raise awareness of the impact of domestic violence,” says Jenifer Moore, corporate affairs manager. “Domestic violence impacts all and these resources are another step to encourage the community to break the silence around domestic violence.”Adds Audrey Starr, director of marketing and communications at YWCA Dayton: “This partnership is truly a gift, and most importantly, it will play a role in both raising community awareness of intimate-partner violence while providing critical information to those who are experiencing abuse. We are so grateful to Kroger and our YWCA sisters for including Dayton in this project.”
